One of the issues that came up quite a lot in the SU elections last term was the need for an admin assistant up in the advice and counselling centre. The problem, as ever, is a lack of money.
A possible solution might be a hundred club. If we could set up a club with 100 people paying £10 a week for the twenty weeks of the winter and lent terms, we would make £1,000 a week or £20,000 over the term. 25% of this could go into prizes (say one prize of £50, two of £25 and ten of £15 , with the winners being drawn at the end of each UGM. That would leave £10K, which would at least start to cover the cost of an admin assistant.
As it seems I’m going to be around, I might offer to run it.
xD.
What about axing the post of Comms Secretary, merging it with another exec post or making it non sabb (starting 2006/7 obviously). That would save about £25k.
An idea with more than a little merit. I had originally intended that the Comms Sabb position would have three roles; promoting the Union within the Union, advertising, and external campaigns.
None of these three has really come to fruition and I don’t think any of them will for various reasons. Scrapping the position or making it non-Sabb again might be the best idea.
xD.
Thank you!
